Our ‘Human neuron physiology and therapy’ –team studies evolutionary specialisation of human neuron types in brain cortex, investigates their significance to physiological ageing and in pathological processes, and looks for their therapeutic potential against neurodegenerative diseases. We search for ‘specific-to-species’ human cell features (function, structure, molecular profile) with impact on neuropathological processes. We hypothesize that the findings will enable better therapeutic interventions in the future.
