Especially during the late stages of chronic diseases, bacterial, fungal or viral infectious diseases contribute negatively to the conditions of the patients, often causing premature death or severe disabilities during the remainder of the patient’s life. The cost of these infectious co-morbidities to the health system are considerable. HCEMM researchers are making contributions to the development of novel approaches to fight antibiotic resistance in bacteria, detect and treat human sepsis and other infectious diseases as well as contribute to the world-wide efforts to get the COVID-19 pandemic under control. These efforts are organized under Research Pillar 4: Infectious Diseases with special Emphasis on Co-Morbidities.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 739593. HCEMM supported by EU Programme: H2020-EU.4.a. – Teaming of excellent research institutions and low performing RDI regions. Project starting date was 1 April 2017.
