The Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine – HCEMM –, one of Hungary’s National Laboratories, works on the development of diagnostic assays and new treatment strategies for the diseases, which affect the majority of Hungarians in old age (e.g. cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and metabolic diseases).
The HCEMM partners Semmelweis University, Biological Research Centre Szeged, and the University of Szeged have incorporated HCEMM Kft., located in Szeged, which provides the administration for the HCEMM program and is currently in the process of establishing R&D laboratories in Szeged as well.
HCEMM is collaborating with advanced partner EMBL Heidelberg on many aspects of the HCEMM program, thus offering unique capabilities for translational research and development on aging-related diseases to Hungarian scientists.
Within HCEMM’s mandate, we are looking for a
Laboratory Technician
to work in the HCEMM Incubator House, located in Szeged Science Park.
We are searching for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician with a Molecular Biology or Biotechnology background. The successful candidate will join a Research team involved in the development of new serum or plasma-based diagnostic assays. The work will include the extraction of double-stranded DNA from serum or plasma, the quantification of DNA, whole-genome amplification of the extracted DNA, preparation of samples for Illumina high-throughput sequencing and the development of qPCR assays. Knowledge about qPCR and primer design is essential for the work described above.
The HCEMM headquarters are a new laboratory site, therefore engagement in creating the general work environment (laboratory setup) is also part of this position.
Expectation:
Masters or PhD in Molecular Biology or Biotechnology or equivalent
Sound mastering of the English language
Experience in DNA isolation from various specimens (blood, serum, plasma, environmental samples)
Experience in qPCR
Experience with Biological Safety Level 2 samples an asset
Experience with setting up an ISO-certified laboratory an asset
