Microscopy and Flow Cytometry Assistant Positions

We are searching for fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy and flow cytometry/sorter (FACS) assistants for the Advanced Core Facility (ACF) of Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine (HCEMM) located at the University of Szeged, Hungary.

The assistants will perform the tests and procedures assigned to microscopy and/or FACS instruments. The job definition also includes assay development, validation, overall test monitoring and troubleshooting. The position is responsible for accurate reporting of results, quality control, equipment maintenance and all other duties assigned by the head of ACF.

Essential Functions:

  • Basic understanding of microscopy and/or FACS related techniques
  • Analyze and accurately report microscopy and/or FACS analyses on all sample types
  • Maintenance and documentation of instrumentation performance metrics
  • Prepare reagent stocks and working solutions
  • Troubleshoot issues and assist with updating laboratory procedures
  • Complete QA and QC documentation on a daily basis
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Assist with training of employees as needed
  • Assist leadership with processing new tests and validation/confirmation testing
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Documented record of handling a fluorescence microscope, electron microscope or FACS machine
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills are essential
  • Must have basic computer skills, with the ability to learn new software and equipment
  • Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to multitask
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
