Bioanalytical Scientist (Proteomics)

Under the supervision of the head of Advanced Core Facility (ACF, HCEMM, Biological Research Centre, Szeged, Hungary), the Bioanalytical Scientist will perform mass spectrometry-based proteomics analysis including sample preparation, mass spectrometric data acquisition and data analysis.The bioanalytical scientist will be responsible for accurate reporting of results, quality control, equipment maintenance and other duties assigned by the head of ACF.

Tasks 

  • Sample preparation for bottom-up proteomics MS analysis
  • Enzymatic digestion of protein samples from cells, tissues or body fluids
  • HPLC fractionation of peptide samples
  • LC-MS/MS data acquisition
  • Mass spectrometric data interpretation
  • Generation of analyses reports
  • Maintenance and documentation of instrumentation performance metrics
  • Troubleshoot issues and assist with updating laboratory procedures
  • Assistance with inventory management
  • Assistance with training of new employees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. degree in chemistry, biology or related field
  • Multiple years of experience in using and maintaining high-end Orbitap mass spectrometers and nanoLC devices
  • Experience in proteomic mass spectrometric data analysis including protein identification and quantification using label-free or labelling methods
  • Familiar with different sample preparation protocols for bottom-up proteomic experiments
  • Good verbal and written English language skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask

Minor advantages 

  • Ph.D. degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biology or related field
  • experience in operating and maintenance of Waters nUPLC devices
  • Experience in protein post-translational modification analysis
  • peptide de novo sequencing skills
  • experience in protein crosslinking analysis
  • experience in mass spectrometric characterization of lipids
  • proficiency in Hungarian language
